Elwira Pilates offers specially tailored 1-2-1 sessions suited for rehabilitating injuries, fixing bad postures and increasing athletic performance.

ELWIRA IS A certified STOTT PILATES® instructor with qualifications in Matwork, Reformer, Total Barre, Injuries & Special Populations, Pre & Post natal pilates.

What is stott pilateS

 

STOTT PILATES® incorporates modern exercise principles, and applies proven and accepted practices in biomechanics, rehabilitation and athletic performance enhancement. After realising the benefits of the concepts of the original Pilates method, and in collaboration with a team of physical therapists/physiotherapists, sports medicine and exercise professionals, the Merrithew's dissected and re-connected this unique form of exercise into a comprehensive, systematic, contemporary approach to the original teachings.

STOTT PILATES exercises are designed to restore the natural curves of the spine and rebalance the muscles around the joints. This involves placing more emphasis on pelvic and scapular stabilisation, and integration of all the parts of the body into one. As well, preparatory exercises and modifications allow the technique to be appropriate for many different body types and abilities, making it applicable to sport-specific training and everyday life.

THE AIM OF PILATES IS TO DEVELOP OPTIMAL NEUROMUSCULAR PERFORMANCE BY FOCUSING ON CORE STABILITY, WHILE SAFELY BALANCING MUSCULAR STRENGTH WITH FLEXIBILITY. 
WHETHER PERFORMED ON A MAT OR ON SPECIALISED EQUIPMENT, PILATES THAT INCORPORATES MODERN THEORIES OF EXERCISE SCIENCE AND SPINAL REHABILITATION SHOULD INVOLVE THE FOLLOWING BIOMECHANICAL PRINCIPLES:-

About

Elwira was always active in her teenage years, representing her school’s volleyball AND RUNNING TEAMS AT VARIOUS COMPETITIONS.

ELWIRA was first drawn to Pilates at the beginning of 2015 after injuring her lower back leaving her bed BOUND for ALMOST two months and facing spinal surgery. She fell in love with the STOTT PILATES® method and its results and after three months OF rigorous training, she was pain-free AND AVOIDED SURGERY. She then decided to become A STOTT PILATES® instructor to help others TO IMPROVE THEIR QUALITY OF LIFE THROUGH FITNESS.

two and a half years LATER FOLLOWING intensive studying and training, she became A CERTIFIED INSTRUCTOR FOR Matwork, Reformer, Injuries & Special Populations. She also takes part in the STOTT PILATES® Continuing Education Program which was developed to provide all Certified Instructors with ongoing learning opportunities to keep skills current and to maintain a high quality of education. Elwira believes that anyone can benefit from STOTT Pilates WHETHER YOUR LOOKING TO INCREASE YOUR FITNESS LEVEL, FIX YOUR POSTURE OR REHABILITATE AN INJURY. Elwira is great at tailoring pilates programs FIT for each individual based on THEIR needs AND goals.

I have been having sessions with Elwira for about 6 weeks now, and the positive effects have been amazing.

I was suffering from mild, but constant, lower back pain for a few months. As a regular runner I eventually had to do something about it, as I was aware I was probably making the underlying issue worse.

During our initial consultation, Elwira asked lots of questions, the conversation we had about lifestyle, exercise, etc was really easy and she didn't pre-judge anything relating to my bad back. After some initial light exercises she shared her thoughts and asked more questions about my posture and warm-up routines (or lack thereof!). She absolutely nailed the diagnosis, and even after that first session I got back into my car pain-free for the first time in months.

The positive results have continued in the subsequent weeks, and during our sessions, she always takes the time to explain what she is doing and why, and has a perfectly tailored programme for me.

Now that I rarely have any pain in my back, I am continuing with Elwira as I can see the benefits in my running and generally understanding how to keep myself in better shape. And that is all down to her skill.

I am ever so grateful to Elwira and her guidance and meticulous attention to detail in supporting me this year.

I took on the challenge of training for a 50 mile running race. When the mileage increased in training, I wanted to swap out some of my gym work for something different and look at core strength and stumbled upon Elwira Pilates, which had just opened not far from me.

Elwira set about finding out about my goals and designing a programme that both challenged me and supported me in helping me reach my goals. As I saw the progress in the sessions, I saw the strength and stability on trails improve and helped keep my mind aware of my breathing, movement and all that went with my runs.

On Sep 15th, I managed to run 50 miles, with 6000ft of elevation, in 9hrs 51 mins. I attribute much of my recent running form to Elwira’s expertise in getting me ready for such a challenge and wholeheartedly would recommend her to anyone I know.

Elwira is an amazing Stott Pilates instructor! I cannot recommend her highly enough. I came to her after a year of suffering in pain with a lower back injury. I saw countless physio’s, chiropractors and doctors and no one has come close to being able to help me like she has.

First of all, she taught me to throw away all of my pain killers and start listening to my body. Over the last 6 weeks she has helped me to rebuild my core strength to support my lower back, as well as strengthen and stretch muscle imbalances caused by a year of pain.
